An educator experienced in additional needs teaching will bring the underwater world alive for students in an indoor, safe and supportive environment. These programs can be modified from 45 minutes to two hours and customised to suit the needs and interests of your students. A range of sensory tools, artefacts and animal interactions are available for educators to engage students as they learn about the marine world.
Groups will be provided with a Social Story, including photographs and simple text to help students prepare for the day. This will be emailed through with additional information in the week before the excursion, however can be made available earlier by request.
The following options are available and are modifiable if adequate time is provided. Please contact the Bookings Officer to discuss the needs of your group.
Option 1: Play based + highlight tour**
Participate in a play-based session using role play, sensory exploration and artefact handling before heading into the Aquarium for a guided visit to a selection of habitats **(Due to the equipment available, this option is only available for students from Early Childhood to Year 4).
Option 2: Tailored tour
Spend up to two hours on a partial or full guided tour of the Aquarium learning about amazing marine habitats and the animals that live there. On the way artefacts, discussions, stories and hands on exploration at our rock pools will engage students in the underwater world. Options include visiting the 4D cinema, the inclusion of breaks, and an additional animal interaction in our rainforest zone.
Option 3: Modified Primary/Secondary Program
Choose a relevant program from our Primary or Secondary range and we can modify it to suit your student’s abilities.
