Guided Excursion Program

Enhance Your Excursion

We are excited to announce a revised suite of guided programs for 2019!

Experience a 2 hour fully-guided program with one of our engaging educators.

Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum with a focus on STEM disciplines, our programs bring students face-to-face with amazing animals, inspiring their curiosity about the natural world and how they can help to protect it.

This program gives Early Childhood students the opportunity to explore the underwater world of SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium in a safe indoor environment. We provide the choice of a 1 ½ hours or 2 hour guided tour to allow flexibility and suit your particular group’s requirements. The program involves exploration of our amazing displays, in addition to structured play-based activities in our education room with one of our educators. Students are encouraged to role-play, explore and imagine whilst learning about the sea and its inhabitants.

KEY FOCUSES INCLUDE:

Time to explore and ask questions about the sea

Identifying different types of animals

Child-directed play and hands-on learning

VICTORIAN EARLY YEARS LEARNING FRAMEWORK CONNECTIONS:

Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world

Children are active learners exploring the world through touch, sight, sound, taste, smell and movement

Young children begin to develop explanations for observed phenomena, and consider what they learn from experiences

Children can develop a range of skills and process such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesizing, researching and investigating

Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators

Children learn to take turns in communication exchanges through their relationships with responsive adults, exploring sound and movement pattern, singing songs, reading stories, playing games and recording their thoughts and ideas

They create and explore imaginary worlds through dramatic play and through artworks
