Listed below are the Early Childhood programs currently offered by SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.
(Early childhood and 4-5 years)
The Watery Wonders program gives Early Childhood students the opportunity to explore the underwater world of SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium in a safe indoor environment. We provide the choice of one of the options below to suit your particular group’s requirements.
The session involves 30 minutes of play-based activities in our education room with one of our educators, where they are encouraged to role-play, explore and imagine. Our activity stations engage students in sustainability issues and sensory play with authentic artefacts. Students can pretend to rescue, rehabilitate and release injured marine life, learn about responsible fishing and explore marine treasures. They then embark on a guided tour around the highlights of the aquarium to view penguins, sharks, stingrays and the crocodile as well as the chance to interact with live animals in our rock pool exhibit.
During this program, your group will embark on a 2 hour guided tour around the aquarium with one of our educators, including the opportunity to see all 12 amazing habitat zones. Throughout the journey, there are opportunities for story-telling and artefact handling as well as the chance to interact with live animals in our rockpool and rainforest exhibits.
Please note the following:
• Groups are encouraged to arrive to the aquarium 20 minutes early to ensure students have the chance to have a snack in the surrounding area before beginning the program
• Our educators will ensure students are taken to the toilets at the beginning, conclusion, and throughout the program as required.
• Early Childhood groups have a teacher-to-student free of charge ratio of 1:3
• Additional adult attending will be charged a discounted rate of $19.50 plus GST. These adults must arrive with the guided group and will be included on the group invoice.
All Early Childhood bookings will be supplied with a PDF Social Story with photos in the week before the excursion to assist students in preparing for the day.
