Melbourne's Mega Crocodile

Come Face to Face

The Mega Crocodile!

From two spectacular viewing levels, come face-to-face with Pinjarra – one of Australia’s largest saltwater crocodiles. A full, 360 degree, jaw-dropping viewing experience. Crocodile's Lair offers an unrivalled viewing experience of Pinjarra - one of the biggest crocs on display in Australia!

One of the Australia's Biggest Crocodiles

Measuring in at over 5 metres and weighing 750kg, Pinjarra, our 55-year-old male Saltwater Crocodile is a spectacular sight to behold!

The Crocodile Lair exhibit will not only make you gasp, "WOW!", it helps our team at SEA LIFE to further educate the public on the ecological significance of the Saltwater Crocodile and the need for conservation.

“We are incredibly excited to work with Pinjarra given his immense size and unique personality, and eager to see this awe-inspiring creature in his new home at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium.”

“In keeping with SEA LIFE’s strong ethical and environmental values BREED, RESCUE and PROTECT, caring for this spectacular animal will help us to raise public awareness and safety in natural crocodile habitats,” he said.

Crocodile Fun Fact

Have you ever seen a crocodile resting on land with its mouth open? Believe it or not, baring its teeth like this isn't a sign of an angry crocodile. Crocodiles will often show this type of behaviour in the hot Summer months. They can't cool down like we do by sweating, so they do it by circulating cooler air around their mouths similar to how dogs pant.

There's nothing better than seeing an awe-inspiring creature like a crocodile up close. Come and meet Pinjarra face-to-face at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium!
