MEET OLIVER - THE FIFTH PAIR OF HAPPY FEET!

Bird Keepers at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium are celebrating a new beginning for orphaned King penguin chick Oliver, after being hand reared since birth.

Abandoned by its parents just three days after being laid, keepers were tasked with artificially incubating the orphaned egg for the remainder of the 55 day gestation period, while also finding another suitable parent.

SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium’s fifth pair of happy feet was welcomed into the world on Tuesday 11 March, with adult male Skipper waddling in to assume the role as foster parent. Now feeding and fussing over the fluffy new addition, keepers are confident Skipper will provide Oliver with the best possible start to life.

CAN YOU SPOT OLIVER?

Still too young to regulate its own body temperature; Oliver will spend the next few weeks staying warm on Skipper’s feet. See if you can catch a glimpse of the newest fluffy youngster snuggling up on the ice!
