On Thin Ice

ON THIN ICE
(VELS Level 5 - 6, Conservation)
This program focuses on the threats to aquatic ecosystems and the animals that live within them. The potential effects of climate change on environments, ranging from tropical reefs to the icy wastelands of Antarctica, are discussed. The program also explores human impacts such as overfishing, pollution and introduced species. By engaging with the various species on display, students are also encouraged to understand the importance of conservation, and the steps that they can take to help.
